Margareta Klobučar was born in Sisak, Croatia, where she took her first singing lessons with Prof. Marica Pernar. In 1995, she won the first price at the vocal contest in Split, Croatia. The same year, she started to study voice at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Prof.s Donner und Prof. Holl. In 1998, she won the 4th International Contest Ferruccio Tagliavini in Deutschlandsberg. In 1999, she was a finalist of the Belvedere Wettbewerb in Vienna. She entered her stage career singing the Queen of the Night in a university production of Mozart's Magic Flute. This debut was followed by engagements as Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Tonina (Prima la musica, poi le parole) and Madame Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor) at the Vienna Kammeroper. Guest performances took her to the Croatian National Opera (La Traviata), to Macedonia (as Gilda in Rigoletto), Vienna (Carmina burana, The Creation, Faurés Requiem, Händels Jephta under Harnoncourt), Bregenz 2003 (title role in Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen under Fedosejev) and Graz (e.g. in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Dvorak's Te Deum, Stabat Mater and Mass in D major, Haydn's Harmony Mass, Nelson Mass, Mozart's Requiem and Funeral Music and Vivaldi's Gloria...). Ever since the 2001/02 season, Margareta Klobučar has been an ensemble member of the Graz Opera. She has been singing the Serpetta (La finta giardiniera), Frida (Enrico), Adina (L`elisir d`amore), Euridice (Orpheus and Euridice), Sophie (Werther), Hannchen (Der Vetter aus Dingsda), Norina (Don Pasquale), Adele (Fledermaus), Zerbinetta (Ariadne on Naxos), Sister Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Baroness Freimann (The Poacher), Franziska Cagliari (Wiener Blut), Sophie (The Rose Cavalier), and Manon Lescaut (Boulevard Solitude). During the 2005/06 season, she gave an acclaimed Frau Fluth ((The Merry Wives of Windsor), the Olympia (The Tales of Hoffmann), Violetta (La Traviata) and the Ilia (Idomeneo). In the Stadttheater Leoben in the summer 2006, she will give the Konstanze in Mozart's Abduction from the Serail. |
